James Hohmann’s April 1 op-ed, “The Chauvin trial’s lesson: We cannot be silent,” was necessary, sobering and dismaying. Mr. Hohmann documented several witnesses to the actions of Derek Chauvin that resulted in George Floyd’s death. None acted as passive “bystanders,” yet their doing the right thing in vocally intervening did not prevent the tragedy.
